29th Annual MarinScapes Fine Art Exhibit & Benefit Susan Schneider Williams

The  29th  Annual MarinScapes Fine Art Exhibit & Benefit will open for the public June 23 to 25, 2017 at the beautiful and historic Escalle Winery in Marin’s charming town of Larkspur, with a special preview Opening Night Gala on Thursday, June 22. MarinScapes will showcase the works of over 30 artists and photographers who capture the stunning beauty and natural scenery of Marin County. This year's featured artist and guest speaker is Susan Schneider Williams, Marin County fine artist and wife of the late Robin Williams. The annual event is a fundraiser for Marin, Napa and Sonoma County-based Buckelew Programs, including Family Service Agency and the Helen Vine Recovery Center whose mission is to promote recovery, resilience and hope by providing behavioral health and support services that enhance quality of life. Art lovers will enjoy complimentary wine and refreshments as they peruse fine art in the rustic ambiance of the historic barn and red brick inn from Escalle Winery, Marin’s first winery, which dates back to the late 1800s and is surrounded by wooded hills at the edge of a bucolic horse pasture near downtown Larkspur. A special onsite food cart, provided by Larkspur favorite Emporio Rulli’s will offer coffee, sandwiches and other tasty treats for guests to purchase. A link to all of the artists, their bios and work can be found on the MarinScapes website. Benefiting Buckelew Programs, the special Opening Night Gala on Thursday June 22, gives art patrons the opportunity to peruse the exhibit prior to the art show’s public opening. MarinScapes Gala patrons and sponsors will enjoy an evening of fine dining by local favorite Insalata's and inspirational words from Susan Schneider Williams, followed by a live auction and fund-a-need. This year, we've added a big top tent for extra comfort on those sometimes-chilly coastal summer nights! On Friday, June 23, the always-popular Meet the Artists Reception will give the public the opportunity to convene with many of the artists as they share the stories behind their breathtaking images. Wine and refreshments are provided. Schneider Williams’ presentation on Saturday, June 24 at 11:00 am titled "The Courage to See” will be an exploration into the importance of “negative space” both in art and in life. Included in the price of admission. Advance tickets recommended. Schneider Williams will discuss the significance of artistic techniques such as negative space and chiaroscuro as she brings understanding and healing to those affected by brain disease. “By painting detailed brushstrokes with my words,” Schneider Williams says, “I hope to create perspective and understanding for those who have a loved one affected by brain disease.” Schneider Williams will share her insights based on personal experience as an artist and a caregiver as well as her research into Lewy body disease.
