altar Eric Bohr: "altar" (2017), mixed media on canvas, 40" x 30 (photo by the artist)

Oakland based artist Eric Bohr presents “altar,” a show of new work featuring paintings and installation. Inspired by the current chaos of our political and social landscape, the artist calls attention to the need for a sacred space where we can create change and reclaim our highest nature. Using the theme of altar and its homonym alter, ideas of place, alchemy and transformation are explored in paintings, objects and installation. Eric Bohr was born in Lansing, Michigan and studied painting with Michael Jacobs Fine Arts in Venice California. He lives in Oakland and has maintained a studio practice for over twenty years.
